Let the games begin!!

New York, NY – December 5th, 2007 – The National Board of Review of Motion Pictures named NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN the 2007 Best Film of the Year. Directed by Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, released by Miramax and Paramount Vantage on November 21st, the film is based on Cormac McCarthy’s novel. It simultaneously strips down the American crime drama and broadens its concerns to encompass themes as ancient as the Bible, and as bloodily contemporary as this morning’s headlines.

For Best Actor and Actress of 2007, the NBR honors two artists whose performances were truly outstanding. The 2007 Best Actor, GEORGE CLOONEY, was selected for his performance in the title role of Michael Clayton. For the 2007 Best Actress honor, the NBR has selected JULIE CHRISTIE for her performance in Away From Her.

um, if the Bourne Ultimatum is on that list, I don't think it's a good predictor of Oscar winnings.

There's no way Christie will win the Oscar this year....they won't give the best actress to two old British chicks in a row...

^^TBU actually received some of the best reviews of the year! It is an amazing film...

Atonement is a great bet...but the top films list is missing a great one -- Charlie Wilson's War (But I guess it isn't really released yet)!

Best Foreign Film: THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY

which country is this film from? France?

I read that Angelina and Keira are front runners for Best Actress...Keira certainly has come along way, I have to say. There was a point when people said she couldn't act at all...whoever advises her earns their money!

Cate Blanchett is pretty much a lock for the Bob Dylan movie for Supporting Actress.

Best Foreign Film: THE DIVING BELL AND THE BUTTERFLY

which country is this film from? France?

French cast with some American financing. Think I read it may not be eligible for foreign film at the Academy Awards

i hope javier bardem wins an oscar. he is amazing! and it's really time for jognny depp to get one too.

i really hope kiera gets the best actresss! although, i really want to see angies movie as well

Sweeney Todd is getting some amazing press, I'd love the shock of Johnny getting nominated for best actor and winning.

It's not likely, but it's well deserved.

Im shocked that 'There will be blood' isn't here ANYWHERE. Is that because it's not out on general release yet? I saw it a month or so ago and it was pretty good, and I've never seen a P.T. Anderson film before (and had to be dragged along kicking and screaming to it, barely knowing what it was about)

I'd say it's definitely about time Johnny won his Oscar...but he is not the type to campaign for awards and winning an Oscar is very much like running for a poilitics...LOL...just ask Reese Witherpsoon, she held her marraige together just to win one.

I read in Entertainment Weekly that Keri Russell is getting Oscar Buzz for Waitress. When are the nominations announced?

I have hardly seen any of the movies listed either-probably just Waitress and the Bourne movie...I have "A Mighty Heart" here from netflix..maybe I'll get to it this weekend

I will be very, very upset if I don't see more There Will Be Blood on awards lists... though I would still be willing to bet money that Daniel Day-Lewis (Best Actor) and Paul Dano (Supporting Actor) will both get nominations.
