I don't know about McQueen, but I remember Gaultier doing a collection inspired by the Orthadox Jews..............

I think in the 90s Gaultier also made a collection inspired by Jews, black clothes, also hair, very rich pattern on fabrics... Ads were photos styled like old photos of a family... It had a sentimental feeling about it, but at the same time powerful and "very nice":-)
 
I see a sense of Zen in some way in Yohji's S/S 04 collection.

Raf Simons used a lot of images of Buddha and other religious icons.
"May the circle be unbroken" as his theme for S/S 04.

Yes, Raf's collection was actually based on Herman Hesse's novel "Siddhartha" (which is a must-read book, I think :heart: ).

Actually this collection was about French Revolution but as you can see christian crosses were used.
